Join us as we talk with voters in Penguin and connect on issues that matter to them.

Come join us as we chat with people in Penguin about the upcoming Central Coast Council election.

Doorknocking is one of the most effective ways to connect with our community. Research shows that around 1 in 3 conversations can swing a vote. You don't need to be a policy expert. Being friendly, listening to people, and having genuine conversations is what matters most.

  • Date: Sunday the 4th of October, 2026

  • Time: 1:30pm to 3:30pm

  • Meeting Location: Hiscutt Park, 35 Crescent St, Penguin TAS 7316

Never doorknocked before?

No worries! We'll start with a short training before we head out, and you'll be paired with an experienced volunteer. We won't throw you in the deep end, and there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions along the way.

Our experienced volunteers will go at your pace. If you're not ready to lead conversations, that's completely okay. Many people spend their first doorknock supporting their partner by recording responses and notes on the clipboard, watching how conversations work, and building their confidence. When you're ready, we'll support you to take that next step.

We'll meet together first, go through everything you need to know, and then head out in pairs. There will be opportunities to take breaks, grab some water, or check in if you need to. At the end of the afternoon, we'll come back together to debrief and celebrate the conversations we've had.

What to bring

  • Comfortable walking shoes

  • Weather-appropriate clothing (warm layers, raincoat or umbrella if needed, or a hat if it's sunny)

  • A water bottle

  • Any snacks, medication, or accessibility items that help you have a comfortable afternoon

The doorknocking route is mostly along suburban footpaths and driveways. If you have any accessibility requirements, questions, or would like to chat beforehand about whether the event will work for you, please get in touch. We'll do our best to make sure you can take part.

If you'd like to learn more about our candidates and why they're running for Central Coast Council Council, you can read more here: Crystal Attrill's Candidate Page, Haru Fergus' Candidate Page, and Darren Briggs' Candidate Page.

We'd love to see you there!
