The Liberals’ Macquarie Point Stadium is going to cost Tasmanians well over a billion dollars that should be invested in affordable housing, a health system that works, and better schools for our kids.
It’s fully cooked, but half-baked. It makes no sense, especially when we already have a perfectly good stadium at York Park.
Despite this, the Liberals are seeking to bypass the independent PoSS planning process. They want to ram the stadium through Parliament in June with special legislation.
They’re trying to cut out the community’s voice to get the stadium built, but it’s far from a done deal in Parliament. Now is the time for people to stand up against the Premier’s costly vanity project.
We’re holding a community conversation in Launceston. Join us to find out more about the stadium fiasco, and what you can do to stop it.
Stop the Stadium! Community Conversation
Join myself, Cecily Rosol MP, Vica Bayley MP, Peter Mcglone (CEO, Tasmanian Conservation Trust) and Basil O'Halloran (Former Greens MP for Braddon)
Saturday 21 May, 12-1.30pm
St Albie's Hall, 46 Margaret Street, Launceston
Together we can hold the Liberal-Labor stadium coalition accountable, and stop this dud development. Taxpayers’ money should be going to health, housing and education -- not a dodgy stadium that Tasmanians don’t want, don’t need and can’t afford.
