Politics in the pub: From Protest to Power

Politics is feeling more divided than ever.

The cost of living is rising, housing is becoming harder to afford, trust in politics is declining, and far-right movements built around fear and division are gaining ground. At the same time, people are demanding action on issues including climate change, social justice, peace and human rights.

So what do we do about it?

From Protest to Power is an evening about the antidote to the far-right: community.

Join journalist Antoun Issa, Queensland Greens Senator Penny Allman-Payne and Michael Berkman MP, and Queensland Progressives president Ed Carroll for conversations about political participation, grassroots organising and how we build movements that can create lasting change.

We'll explore:

• Why are so many people feeling disconnected from politics and each other?

• What drives the rise of politics based on division and resentment?

• How do protests and moments of political energy become lasting movements?

• What does meaningful grassroots organising actually look like?

• How can communities turn shared concerns into political power?

• And most importantly, what can we do here in Logan?

This won't be a night of sitting quietly and listening to politicians talk at you.

There will be opportunities to meet people, share your own ideas, connect with others in the community and think about what you can contribute to creating change locally.
