ACT Greens August Members Forum/SGM

SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING BUSINESS - 24 AUGUST
A special general meeting will be held on Monday 24 August at 6 pm at the Gungahlin Library and online, for two purposes:

1.  As the final step in the process used by the ACT Greens to make changes to our constitution, under constitution clause 38.9, we have to: ‘In accordance with the Act, constitutional changes accepted in a ballot are effective only after they have been proposed as a special resolution with at least 75% of the members present at the meeting voting in favour of the resolution.’

Therefore, the SGM will be asked to vote on the following motion: That this SGM agrees to confirm by a special resolution the constitutional changes accepted in the ballot of all members conducted in August 2026. 

2. Under Constitution clause 15.4.11, the Party’s SGM has the power to confirm or reject MC’s appointments to fill casual vacancies on working groups. MC has made the following appointments to fill casual vacancies, namely:

1. Using its Quick Decision Making (QDM) process, on 20 July 2026, MC appointed Peter Londey to fill the casual vacancy on the Assembly Arrangements Working Group, and Jasmine Fellows to fill the casual vacancy of the Yerrabi Neighbourhood Team Representative on the Management Committee.

2. Using its QDM process, on Monday 27 July, MC appointed Louise Bilston to fill the casual vacancy on the Arbitration and Conciliation Committee.

The proposed motion for SGM agreement is: That the Special General Meeting of 24 August 2026 confirms the appointments made by the Management Committee of (1) Peter Londey to fill the casual vacancy on the Assembly Arrangements Working Group (2) Jasmine Fellows to fill the casual vacancy of the Yerrabi Neighbourhood Team Representative on the Management Committee, and (3) Louise Bilston to fill the casual vacancy on the ACC.
