Join your fellow Greens for a friendly get together and hike through the beautiful Joalah Section of Tamborine National Park along the Curtis Falls Track and Lower Creek Circuit for an invigorating 3.5km walk through lush rainforest.
This popular rainforest walk takes visitors through beautiful wet eucalypt forest with dense ferns alongside a rocky creek, giving visitors a true connection to the wild nature of Tamborine National Park. The 12 metre high waterfall can vary from a powerful and torrential pour after heavy rain to a serene and gentle flow over the ancient basalt columns.
Trail notes:
Our walk begins with the Curtis Falls Track in wet eucalypt forest beneath towering flooded gums. Notice a drop in temperature as the wet eucalypt forest merges into lush rainforest. Beautiful crows nest and staghorn ferns can be seen in the canopy above. The rock pool and surrounding basalt rock face provide important glow-worm habitat.
We will then branch off the Curtis Falls Track to the Lower Creek Circuit which crosses Cedar Creek before passing a giant, fallen strangler fig. Beyond the strangler fig the track becomes a typical, more challenging Grade 4 walking track, with creek crossings that involve rock hopping.
Please note as with most rainforest walks the track is often muddy, especially after rain.
Grade 3: Suitable for most ages and fitness levels. Some walking experience recommended. Tracks may have short steep hill sections, a rough surface and many steps.
Grade 4: Walking experience recommended. Tracks may be long, rough and very steep. Directional signs may be limited.
Registrations are essential so we know how many to expect and to advise any last minute or wet weather changes.
